splash of a pink martini

a year ago my eyes came upon a few words noting that pink martini was going to be coming through oklahoma city this year... so i got together a few people i kenw would appreciate pink martini in all their glory and we attended the show last night, and lemme tell you, it was GLORIOUS. i wish the setting had been in a bar/club because dancing to their music may have just been the necessary ingredient to completing my life, but it was still an amazing show, so... i'm not bitter.

it made me appreciate oklahoma a little more, but what i realized over that was how nice it would be to live in a bigger city where pink martini or similar in a bar/club WOULD happen. i forced my mother to attend pink martini tonight, and i know that their gang will love it... it was a great night though, followed by driving around my favorite parts of the city and chilling at the conservatory with aubrie for a while. i came home to kathleen and kate about to start the old audrey hepburn "sabrina" and sat down to that...

just one of those nights that leave you in a good mood.

i'm going to baltimore soon, so i'll be in that city that allow fun times to flow from place to place... every stop has its own special characteristics that make that place unique and fun.

the world needs more people that know how to have fun.

hail presidents?

so... in celebration of the upcoming president's day... i want to talk a little about politics... yeah i know... new and different...

my background: in the past year alone i have taken a class on history of the mid-east focus on Iraq in 2003 and the history of the pal-il conflict... i went to jordan this summer... i took an anthropology of people of the middle east class last semester that went into history, politics, and relations among mid-east peoples and nations, and most recently i took an intensive intersession course on the entire history of iraq and current situations. oh, one more quick note... i've written probably at least 5 or more major papers (>10 pages) on different factors of middle eastern conflicts... earning top marks on all of them.

situation: the lebanese ex-prime minister is killed in a bomb in beirut. 15 other civilians die. this is the prime minister who was responsible for practically rebuilding lebanon post-civil-war. loved by all.

my theory: do i think it was the syrians? who knows... but i do know that due to the occupation of syrians in lebanon, with this bombing, it gives america an AWFULLY convenient excuse to go into syria... which was publically announced that it was on our president's agenda just a few weeks ago... well, that sounds convenient also. this asshole-agenda being put forth is really getting to be too much... i swear... if america goes into syria soon... i'm just gonna give up on politics all together. and my life-goal. whats the point of peace? bush would just call me a terrorist organization and send troops over to make the world safe for tyranny, i mean democracy.

pres's day: yeah. celebrate the past... the future or present, i wouldn't be so quick to jump on... BUT

pink martini is coming into town this next weekend. and i WILL be jumping on that train. HELL YAH. and i recall seeing last year that it is some sort of benefit concert, but i haven't seen anything since. either way... it IS pink martini.

so... hang on little tomato.

small revolution

so here i am. this week is dedicated to the transitions that come along with lifestyle changes. so here's the revolution: i'm going back to working out a lot (cindy crawford has been kicking my ass on a regular basis, but its like she really cares about me and is doing it out of love), i'm eating a lot healthier, mizi and i are on a diet together, and its nice to have someone to eat healthy with, its not a cabbage soup diet, or a bananas and milk diet or a you're ever allowed to have carbs diet, its a healthy lifestyle change thing. by the way trans fats are the new carbs... who know being completely surrounded by hydrogen could be such a bad thing... *shrugg*

on the psychological aspect of the revolution:
i'm doing my homework and reading, which is really fascinating, i've been tearing through my books for modern medicine, and as soon as i finish this next one, i'll get my soapbox out and scream about the balance of nature.

also, i bought a book yesterday and tore through it also last night, its a book i've been wanting for a while, ever since i watched the authors on some program. Its called "He's just not into you" and i think its an important concept. one of my basic arguments against the sexes is that boys are thick and girls are dumb. girls will make up excuses for any sort of behavior from a guy and will accept that behavior. thats no good. just get over it. he's just not that into you. move on. its a hard concept to get through anyone's head, its irritating and each person is hopeful that they are the exception. yeah, exceptions... are just that... exceptions. prolly not you and prolly not me. so get over it.

just one word

my sister is doing a survey, and i am extending the survey to all of you (if there are any of you who still read this); however, i'm changing the terms. is it possible to describe me in one word, and if so... what would that word be?
she got me all curious.

the other question she asked was if you could invite 5 people over for dinner who would they be... well... here ya go...
my 5:
g-bush, condi rice, colin powell, ariel sharon, and saddam houssein.

jk again
my 5:
jon stewart, john gillis (aka jack white), john cusack, hanan ashrawi, quentin tarantino.

now, for the update...
i 1)stole my dog, she now is on my bed keeping me company, cuddling with me at night when i need it, and begging me not to take her back, 2) got a new cell phone. number is the same... but now its not a piece of shit... i mean art... and 3) watched the state of the union address... comments anyone?

*raises hand* "PICK ME PICK ME"
*exasperated tone* "ok, mary, go ahead"
well one refreshing thing to hear was booing... now.. my my, doesn't that sound unamerican, but if you think about it... it is the most american action that could have occurred. in the midst of the (caugh) leader of our country, giving a pep-talk to everyone, elected congressional members were booing and expresssing their underlying right to freedom of expression. This country is so split right now, that it was in fact hard to hear mr. bush-a-thon speaking as if it were the oppinion of the masses. the most disturbing part of the speech? the importance to recognize that syria and iran are the next fronts in our "war on turr-ism"... and that these place have been harboring terrorists and that they are standing in the way of democracy. now really... are you going to start 2 more wars without even finishing the first one?! this is getting ludicrous. are you going to fight any country harboring terrorists? b/c then, as much as you don't want the war to be on american soil, the US should be top of that list. its so hard to watch bullshit like that on tv and whats harder? to watch those around me support it so blindly.

somebody legitimately justify the iraqi war, and after that, justify a war with iran and syria.
somebody tell me that america isn't an empire.
somebody tell me what the hell is going on. because i pay attention... and i study it... but i apparently just don't get it...
