flapdoodle
Flap-doo-dle: slang (n) -- Foolish talk; nonsense.
While walking around today enjoying the weather and listening to They Might Be Giants' "Birdhouse In Your Soul," I decided i'd pick up an OU Daily and sit on a bench and people watch... For those of you who know me... people-watching = totally normal... picking up an OU Daily = not so normal.
anyways. the newspaper put a huge smile on my face. why? because the world is a terribly silly place. the front page headline story went something like "Suspected Lunch Box Bomb A Dud : The only thing found inside was an empty sandwich wrapper." THIS, under a picture of a specialist in full "outbreak" gear x-raying a stupid little red lunchbox that someone forgot about on a trashcan. oh no... we aren't paranoid at all.
okay. good time to call in the special team: when a guy tries to enter a stadium a few times and runs the other direction when they ask to check his bag, then is seen later placing something under a bus. bad time to call in the special team: when you see a lunchbox on a trashcan.
that's just silly.
so... next reason i smiled: I started reading a Saddam Houssein story. The story was discussing how Saddam will be held responsible for many crimes and it started talking about some of them. The article talked about how most americans really couldn't ever fathom a dictator. I mean... a strong government going into another territory and taking control. that's impossible, we wouldn't even know how to handle that. still don't get why i smiled? sorry. that is just funny. not only did the article (obviously) not discuss that america was best friends with good ole Saddam in the early 80 (while he was committing these discussed crimes), and even put him in power, knowing his nature and means of getting what he wants perfectly well. No... that isn't all that i was smiling about. No. i couldn't imagine a super-controlling government either guys... Gawsh-Durn... i'm sure glad big brother is watching me and will kick anyones ass that looks at him funny. :)
i think i'm gonna start an OU Daily/mp3/coffee habit. it definitely boosted my mood.
